A Thankful Heart

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV

A devotion for November 20th through the 26th

As we begin Thanksgiving week, it is that time of year where we spend time thinking about all the things we are thankful for.  Some people will share one thing they are thankful for each day on social media.  Some families make sure they go around the supper table and everyone voices what they are thankful for.  There are so many ways people think about and express what they are thankful for.  It’s important that we have a thankful heart.

A thankful heart is one that expresses gratitude for all the many blessings they have been given no matter where the blessings have come from.  Expressing gratitude, thankfulness, is so important for us.  By expressing our gratitude, we are opening our hearts and becoming more of the people God wants us to be.

There are so many things I am thankful for.  My husband, family, friends, job, shelter, food on the table, and the ability to give to others, to volunteer as well.  Above all of these things, God comes first.

I am most thankful for the grace God showed for me, for all of us.  He made the ultimate sacrifice coming to this sinful world and becoming the perfect sacrifice to save us all.  To give each of us the opportunity to be welcomed into His kingdom as true children of God.  Granting us eternal peace.

This Thanksgiving season, make sure to give thanks to the One who paid the ultimate price, all for love.  Better yet, thank Him every day!
