A Study in Love

We love Him because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19 NKJV

Midweek thoughts

This quarter the Sabbath School lesson is on Deuteronomy and this week’s lessons cover “to Love the Lord Your God”.  My husband and I always study together through the week.  We pray, read the lesson, read the Bible verses, and discuss.  I love studying the Bible this way.  I love discussing it.  Seeing how it speaks to me as well as how it speaks to others.

Going over this lesson is such a reminder of how great God’s love is.  One question asked us to read the above verse, 1 John 4:19.  It’s not a very big verse, but oh how it speaks volumes about Him!  Read the verse and then think about how it helps us to understand why we should love God.  That was the question in the lesson and it got me talking.

“He first loved us”.  Four little words that say so much.  He loved us before we were even formed, before we were born, before we even walked on this earth.  Before! Think about it.  God loved us so much, all of us, that He planned everything out before we were even here.  He planned our Salvation.  He did all this for love, the love of each and every one of us!  What a powerful verse!

Remember, He loved us before we were even born so much, He made provision for Jesus to die for us.  What an amazing love that is!  How could you not love God?  How could you not revere Him?  He is all about love!

The next time you’re feeling down and worthless, remember He paid the price for each of us.  I am loved, you are loved, we are loved, beyond measure!
