A Moment

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Corinthians 15:52 KJV

Midweek thoughts

Have you ever noticed how everyone seems to want things instantly?  In a moment, a second, as quickly as possible?  Today there are so many things we can now get quickly, in just a moment.  We can put a cup in a microwave and in a minute or two, have a cup of hot tea or even a single serving of cake!  We don’t want to wait for anything, we want it now!  We can even order something we want off the Internet and get it in one or two days!  Sometimes the same day!  It seems we are always looking for ways to get what we want right now.  This makes me stop and think.  What about what really matters?  What about the most important thing there is?  What about eternal peace?

In a world where everything is fast paced and in a “get it now” mentality, we tend to not think about the long term.  Oh, we plan for retirement and so forth but what about the most important long-range plans?  It seems to me that we have forgotten the most important thing there is, eternity.  Shouldn’t planning and preparing for eternity with our Heavenly Father be foremost?  After all, it’s the best part!

We should take time, slow down and take time, to study God’s word.  Share God’s message.  Really put an effort into doing what He wants us to do.  Accept His gift of salvation, share His word, His love, with others, and prepare ourselves for Jesus’ soon return.  He is coming again, and soon!  It might seem like it is taking so very long for His return but really, it will be here before we know it!  And what a glorious day that will be!

The best is coming.  Let’s prepare for it and take time to slow down and meet God.  A relationship with Him prepares us for that glorious day!  Keep your fork, the best is yet to come!
