A Hand in the Darkness

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 34:4 NKJV

Midweek Thoughts

We all go through difficult times.  Some are harder to get through than others.  We have various times where things go well, and we are happy.  Then the next thing we know, we are getting knocked down again.  Sometimes it seems like every time we start to pick ourselves up and feel better, we get hit with something else that knocks us to our knees.  We just want to cry and crawl into a hole and hide.  We just don’t want to deal with another thing.

These are the times that are the darkest.  We look everywhere to see if we can see a light.  Something to tell us it’s getting better, and we can come out of the hole.  We want nothing more than to reach for the light and feel good again.

Sometimes we get reminders of situations we went through in the past that were so hard and painful.  Anniversaries.  There are good ones and bad ones.  Sometimes it seems like the bad dates are the ones we remember the most.  Sometimes the bad seems to just overshadow all the good that really is around us.  We just can’t see it for all the darkness.

At times like these, we need to reach for God’s hand even more.  Even in the dark, He reaches out toward us wanting to comfort and help us.  We don’t see His hand.  Sometimes we brush it away not realizing what He has to offer.  But if we can just reach out, cry out to Him, He will be there.

Even when times are hard, know that He is there.  He may not have things work out quite the way you would like them to go or how you think they should go, but He will answer every prayer.  He will heal the hurt.  We need to ask for His grace to wait for His promises to be fulfilled.

Sooner or later, often later, God will answer.  Let Him fill your hurting heart with His love and mercy.
