A Clean Heart

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:7 NKJV

Midweek Thoughts

Do you occasionally get into a disagreement with someone?  I know we all do from time to time.  A disagreement is kind of like having a different opinion.  We are all full of our own opinions and sometimes expressing them can lead to a disagreement.  Many times, there are little things that we allow to turn into a big thing.  Something minor that really isn’t that important in the grand scheme of things.  Not if we really think about it.

It's important not to let things get the best of us because when we do, it can change a relationship.  It can even damage a relationship.  We have to think “is it really that important?” or is it something that we can just let go of as it really isn’t so important that we should ruin a relationship.  This takes quite a bit of thought.  Sometimes we hold onto things in our hearts and just don’t let them go.

Funny thing about voicing opinions, we can choose to do so in a mean way, or we can choose to do so in a loving manner where we still respect the other person’s opinion.  We can choose to hold onto things, or we can choose to let them go and move on.

It’s like this with God as well.  God has given us many instructions, after all the Bible is our manual to live by.  It’s full of information that is meant to help us live.  The 10 commandments for example.  The first four have to do with our love for God and the remaining six our love for each other.  Notice I said the word love.  It’s all about love.

Each day we need to go to God in prayer and ask Him to wash us clean.  Give us a clean heart.  When we have a clean heart, it makes it so much easier to voice our opinions in a loving manner and continue to show respect for the other person even if their opinion is different from ours.  With a clean heart it is so much easier to express love rather than hate.

We need to ask God every day to clean our heart, but we also need to make sure we are willing to let it all go.  Ask God to give you the grace to let go of all disagreements.  Choose love.  Choose a clean heart.
