Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
What’s your idol? What is it that you spend more time thinking about? Do you have a desire for more money? Do you prefer to spend your time playing games? Do you schedule time for certain activities or things that please you? What about God? Do you schedule time for Him? Where do you put God in your day? These are all very good questions and things that require deep thought. Many people do not think much about idols but they exist everywhere. No one really thinks anything about idol worship either. But so many people do have idols and do not place God where He should be.
An idol is anything that pulls you away or comes between you and God. You might still think “oh no, I don’t have any idol’s”. Are you sure? Do you spend time talking with God daily? It is important to make the time for conversations with God. It is important to start your day with God. Pray first thing in the morning. Start the conversation with God and keep it going throughout the day. Make time to read some of the Bible each day. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Start small. Just make the time for God. Putting God first will bring you closer to God and His blessings.
Things of this world so easily pull at us. Daily we are pulled in so many directions. We all have those days. I find that taking a moment to start talking to God, acknowledging His presence by my side, admitting I can do nothing without Him, settles me down and gives me more focus. Trusting that He is in charge and trusting in His plan helps me to let go of some of the stress life brings. It also keeps my focus more on Him.
God wants to give each and every one of us mercy, grace, and peace. We need to trust that He will take care of us, He will provide for us, and His plan is a perfect plan. Know that everything around you could be gone quickly but God will always remain. Keep God as your prize. Hold tight to Him. Place God where He should be, above everything else. God needs to be number one. Stay focused on Him and you will see God’s many mercies and blessings. The things of this world are all temporary. God is eternal.
