And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Last week we did a look at the overall story of the Good Samaritan. Now let’s take a look individually at the people. The first one to walk by was the Priest. These people were the leaders, the office people, of the Jewish religion. They were seen as the people who knew everything there is about the Laws of God and the Laws of worshipping God. Everybody in the community and the surrounding areas looked up to them for their leadership, the answers to their questions, and the proper ways of how to live and worship. In today’s world, let’s just say these are your conference people and the pastors at your churches.
How many times have you called and had a question for your pastor concerning a certain part of the Bible you were struggling with and you never got a call back? How many times have you felt, as a church, that the conference didn’t care about you, specifically, as a church group? Today there are many different things pulling your conference leaders, and your pastors, in many different directions. We tend to look a lot at ourselves being the man on the side of the road who got beat up, pulverized, robbed, and left for dead. We don’t feel like we are getting our due service. But we need to bow our heads in payer and pray not only for ourselves, but also for our leadership because we do not know what the other phone call they might be dealing with may be or the troubles they may be dealing with at this time.
God calls us to be caring to all people. To humble ourselves to everyone’s needs. Let’s all spend a little time this week praying for each other but also praying for our pastors and our conference leaders. May God continue to bless each and every one of you through this work week.
Dear Lord, I just want to take this time to give you thanks for all your blessings. For the opportunity to come on and share some of my insights that I get from your word. I thank you for the Holy Spirit and His leading and I pray He will be with us this week to guide our hearts and minds. I pray you will give us the boldness that when we have the opportunity that the Priest, Levite, and the Good Samaritan had, that we would all be Good Samaritans. Again, your blessings are so many and I can’t thank you enough for all You do for each and every one of us. In Jesus name, Amen.
