Scars

Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

Scars

Thoughts for the rest of the week

Scars.  We all have them in one form or another.  Some are on the surface, on the skin, showing where there was an injury of some sort.  Perhaps playing around as a kid, working with wood, building something, or even preparing a meal.  Some scars fade over time to where they are not as noticeable as when they were new.

Some scars are below the surface.  Hidden.  Emotional scars leave just as much a mark on the person as a physical scar.  Sometimes more of a mark.  Emotional scars run very deep and can be brought to the surface at any moment.  Scars are a mark of turmoil and pain.  They are a reminder that you went through something.  A reminder that you have been hurt, wounded.

What a blessing to know that when Jesus returns and we are taken up to Heaven, we will be given new bodies.  All the hurt, wounds, and scars will be gone forever!  All the old will be washed away and made new.  The only scars that will remain, as a reminder of the price paid, will be the ones on Jesus’s hands.  A reminder of the great love God has for each one of us.  A reminder of the gift given.  A reminder that He died for our sins.  All is made new.  Praise God!
