Forgiveness

A devotional thought for September 27th - October 3rd

Forgiveness.  It's a simple word but not simple to do.  Most of us have a hard time with giving forgiveness.  Forgiveness is a gift.  It was given to all of us when Jesus died on the cross.  The pathway  to eternal life with God is through the gift that Jesus gave us all.  Christ forgave all of us and wants us to forgive each other.

When we hold onto grudges and anger against another, it does not do anything to that other person.  It eats away at us inside and creates a negative spirit full of spite.  When we let go of the anger, the grudges, the hard feelings and forgive others who have wronged us, it sets us free.  Like the picture above, the chains are broken and we fly free!!  We begin to feel better inside and act better on the outside.  Showing forgiveness and love to someone who has done wrong to you is showing God's love for all of us.  It's powerful to forgive!

For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Matthew 6:14 NKJV

Forgiving others is what God wants us to do.  If we forgive others then we receive God's promises and peace.  The peace that we receive from God is the best peace there is!  Remember what Jesus said:

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27 NKJV

Isn't this the best thing to forgive for?  Peace.  Peace for everyone concerned.  Showing God's love by forgiving those who wrong you gives you peace.  Follow how Jesus lived!  Do what Jesus would do!  Forgive!
