Focus on the Light

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Focus on the Light

A Devotional Thought for September 20th - 26th

How many times have you woke up and thought "I don't want to go to work"?  There have been many days when I hugged my wife and said "I want to retire!".  There are days when there is a disagreement or just a lot of negativity around you.  These are the days when you have to think about Daniel and his three friends in Daniel 1.  They were taken prisoner by a Babylonian empire that held on to pagan beliefs, but they continued to hold onto their beliefs.  Can you imagine the negativity and turmoil they faced each day? But they held on, worked hard, most importantly never turned their eyes away from God, and became nobles in that kingdom.  We need to be more like them and focus on Him who loves us more than anyone on this world has the ability to.

When we turn our eyes away from the light and look down, we see only a shadow of who He wants us to be and who others might see us as.  Instead turn around to the light and keep pushing forward.  You and the people around you will see you in a different light.

Like the song says, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face and the things of this earth will grown strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace".
