Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
I am thinking about baptism today. Our church will have two baptisms on Sabbath. What a wonderful blessing that two individuals are preparing to give their hearts and lives to God. Praise God for this!
Jesus said “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” in John 3:5. God wants us to give our hearts to Him. Part of the way we show our love for God is by being baptized. Jesus was baptized. Being “born of water” is baptism. Baptism is a way of showing we are dying to self and being born again into a new life. A life with God.
Baptism is a choice we each have to make for ourselves. No one can make the decision for you. You need to study God’s word, learn and grow your relationship with God. You will be moved to make this commitment with God at the right time. Don’t think that once you are baptized everything is done. That is when the work really begins. You must continue to grow your relationship with God. Continue to study. Continue to do the things that show God you are His.
If you have not made this decision yet don’t give up. You can still make this decision. It is easy to ask for Bible studies, do studies on your own, search out the truth. Once you see God’s truth and want to continue on the path with God, the decision is made. Continue on. God is waiting.
