Seeing God Work

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Psalm 51:10-12 ESV

A devotion for March 31st through April 6th

A lot of my life I really haven’t taken much time to notice or given it much thought of how often or even when God is working in my life.  The last 2 years though He has really impressed in me how He is willing to help us out.

The past 2 years I have put together a spring revival at my church.  Sermon subjects, songs, who was speaking, and so forth, and arranging it all.  It is something I have really come to enjoy doing.  Our first year’s focus was on the “Humbleness of Jesus” (His Humble beginnings, His Humble ministry, Humble at death, and Our Humble High Priest).  I then put songs I thought of that fit with the sermon titles.  One evening I was listening to the 3ABN Sabbath School Panel.  One of the speakers started talking about the lyrics to an older Christian song.  It is Carmen’s song “His Blood”.  It is a song that really, really hits you hard about the whole cross experience and the video really does even more to capture the moment.  It will really make you uncomfortable. It is quite graphic, but it is so good.  There were some that said I shouldn’t show it, but I had this feeling it needed to be shown.  The pastor who spoke of the crucifixion of Jesus went into great detail about the nails used and the damaged that was done to Jesus’ nerves, muscle tissue and his blood vessels.  Then the video was shown.  It was a perfect way to finish the speaker’s message.  Only God could have orchestrated that.

This Year (April 5th & 6th) will be our next revival.  This year our topic is Prayer.  I have really felt him working with me again this year also.  With songs and messages, we will be presenting.  I can’t wait to see it all unfold.  With His leading and the Holy Spirit giving us the living water, the blessings that will be given to all who take the time to come and see it, as well as those who watch it on YouTube (Council Bluffs SDA Church) will be great to see and hear about.  Such a reward I get from working side by side with Him.

Another time was during the second presentation about His Humble Ministry and the pastor kept emphasizing, “who is there on this earth who would have gone through what he did”.  Being constantly harassed by the “religious leaders” of that time. “No, not one, only the One and only One.”

Right when the pastor was finished, we had a trio sing “No, Not One”.  Several came up to me and asked me “did you and the speaker plan this out?”.  All I could say is no, but HE did. It was so awesome to watch and see Him work.

Take a little time to sit back and look back on your life and see how he has blessed you.  All you can do is smile and say, “Thank You for being You”.
